Ingredients:
1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling waterFor the chocolate fudge
frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk or cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pinch of salt.
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add wet ingredients:
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water until well combined (the batter will be thin).Bake: Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
Prepare the frosting:
In a large bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk or cream. Mix on low speed until blended, then beat on high speed until smooth and creamy.
Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, mixing until combined.
Frost the cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting over the top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining frosting.
Decorate:
